Passive fire protection

Definition: Fire stopping is a form of passive fire protection which is to seal around openings and between joints in a fire-resistance-rate wall or floor assembly. The purpose of this is to maintain the fireproofing of a wall or floor assembly, blocking the spread of fire and smoke.

Our engineers are equipped to install and maintain:

• Fire-batt & mastic
• Fire compound
• Penetration sealants
• Cavity barriers
• Fire curtain

Minimum qualifications/experience for our operatives for this role:

• NVQ Level 2 – Passive Fire Protection
• CSCS card – Blue
• Minimum of two year experience

Purpose: Fire doors create a passive fire safety system, protecting buildings from the spread of fire by confining it to a specific area for a longer period of time. This allows people within the building enough time to escape via alternative routes which might otherwise be cut off by fire.

Our fire door engineers have lengthy experience working across a variety of project types. Many of our skilled tradespeople are qualified or have worked to third party accreditation such as FIRAS or the BM Trada, to ensure all doors are installed, upgraded and maintained to the highest standards.

Minimum qualifications/experience for our operatives for this role:

• NVQ Level 2 and/or 3 – Carpentry and joinery
• CSCS card – Blue
• Minimum of two years’ experience with fire doors
